There’s always a special feeling that draw us to something new and something fresh. Excitement and the feeling of being to experience it first. Could also be curiosity for something that you read and you wanted to confirm.
Like this new hotel at the Diplomatic Area of West Bay which is now open for daily or long term guests. This service-apartment is the newest member of Ezdan Hotels and is sure to be a welcome addition to the growing number of prestigious accommodations this side of the city. I am both excited and curious.
Their brochure aptly described the hotel as:
The Curve, as the name implies is based on the hotel’s structure that follows the curvature of the Corniche, Doha’s famous shoreline. The architecture allows its’ guests to have the best view of West Bay all the way to the Museum of Islamic Art. This is the place to embrace the city. The Curve brings together a combination of a spectacular views and premium location in comfortable settings. Overlooking the Arabia Gulf Sea it boasts of 600 hotel apartments that range from studio, one and two bedrooms for business and tourist travelers alike.
Last February 8, i was invited for an exclusive tour of this new property partly for work (future guests of our company) as well as for blog purposes.
FIRST IMPRESSION: Aside from its curved design and its strategic location right at the curve of the Diplomatic Street fronting Hilton Hotel, the overall appeal of the hotel is young and fresh.
WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THE HOTEL: I must say that the pool at the 26th floor is the bomb (would have been better if it was made into an infinity pool – just dont know if there are restrictions for such here in Qatar). The view was great especially at night.
THE HOTEL’S BIGGEST ADVANTAGE: Aside from one of the few prestigious apartment-hotel in this side of town, its location will give similar developments in the Pearl area a serious competition. From what we initially heard, some of the tenants are key employees of major commercial airlines and staff of oil and gas companies in Qatar.
Aside from the fact that it is a serviced apartment, they will also have a commercial area at the ground floor which will house several brands such as:
- Shawarmaji
- Zaatar & Zeit
- Starbucks
- Manhattan
- Buffalos
- Johnny Rocket
This will make dining even more accessible especially for long staying guests.
THE ROOMS: What’s unique about The Curve is that you wont see a room door right at the hallw way. Rooms are clustered into blocks of 3 or 4 with their own private foyer. Intended for groups or families of 3 or 4 who wants to get a block all for themselves, this idea suit them perfectly.
The rooms are fully equipped with kitchen equipment, cooking utensils and dinner wares. It is also fully furnished and some rooms are big enough to accommodate existing furniture of those who wish to transfer to The Curve.
The hotel-apartment also offers different layouts for studios units. There are also bigger space with 1 bedroom or 2 bedrooms classified from deluxe to premier, each depending on the guests’ preference and taste.
THE FOOD: The Curve houses a dining area and a conference room at the Mezzanine floor. The decent sized dining area serve food that is currently being catered from their sister-company, Ezdan Hotel.
The selection is just enough (prices are shown below) and they usually serve continental dishes from breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is definitely just an added amenities provided by the hotel especially for those who don’t have time to cook. However, more choice awill be available once the commercial area opens in middle of 2017.
I can only share up to what I’ve experienced so far. But i can see a great potential on this hotel. And the next time you’ll ask, i’ll say – SEE YOU AT THE CURVE!
