As my beloved Doha continue to take its shape, more and more buildings are being constructed now forming the city’s colorful landscape. Roads are now being widened, an underground rail transit are now being constructed paving the way for new growth areas to become easily accessible like Wakrah, Al Rayyan and Lusail in the future.
There’s no stopping Qatar for its development. Not only for the sole purpose of hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022 but also proving as one of the most dynamic economies in the region. In the next few years, we can expect an abrupt change in people’s lives in Qatar. From availability of more infrastructure and technology, to the state-of-the-art transportation facilities linking different areas in the country.
On a lazy weekend, i decided to take a random road trip around the city hoping to get some inspiration for future blog posts. And those construction sites along the way caught my attention especially those buildings with unique facade and structures.
Few days back, we were intrigued by an article listing one of our projects in 8 of Qatar’s Most Bizarre Upcoming Buildings. And i was surprised that there were even more in the minor streets of Doha alone.
Most of them are still undergoing construction like this one below located along C-Ring road near Toyota Signal going to the old Arrival Airport.
The next photo is a car showroom that has a sleek and modern design… very futuristic!
This is apparently Qatar Airways Tower 3 along the Airport Road beside Ooredoo building and just opposite their main building and ticketing office.
And while regularly passing by this building close to our house in Mansoura, i was initially intrigued by its tetris-like facade and it’s “almost” windowless design.
A new hotel in the souq area follows the shape of the lot space allowing them to have a triangular edged corner.
As i’ve mentioned in my instagram post, “…whatever our opinions may be about (their designs), i’m sure the owners/designers have special reasons for executing it”.
