The Filipino community in Qatar will be celebrating the 119th Philippine Independence Day on June 26-28 at the City Center Rotana Doha. In the observance of the holy month of Ramadan this year, the organizing committee decided to delay the celebration which is usually held during the week of June 12.
This edition of PIDC is expected to be even more festive and colorful as we’ve seen teasers of some of the new additions to the previous programs.
Aside from the usual talent performances from different schools and organizations in Qatar, there are also SIDE EVENTS that will be happening at the Meeting Rooms located beside the main ballroom where the major activities for the Philippine Independence Day Celebrations (PIDC) are being held.
Everyday during the 3-day event, series of free lectures will be conducted with topics ranging from financial literary; how to start a blog; Pagibig and SSS sessions; health, journalism, and business opportunity seminars; to film making, and more.
Simultaneously running on two meeting rooms, you may choose which seminar you are interested in, check the timing, and attend the lectures.
BEST LIFE QATAR is very privileged to be invited to talk about HOW TO START A BLOG on June 26 (Day1 Side Events) 4:30pm – Meeting Room to be announced soon. One of the highlights of this year’s celebration is the first ever pageant representing the different registered Filipino Organizations in Qatar. A total of 20 official candidates (Male and Female) for this year’s competition will be representing 10 participating organizations. This will definitely show the energy, creativity and unity of every organizations in Qatar which will really help in promoting an active and engaging community groups.
Last June 16, a social media campaign was launched to introduce the candidates online. Dubbed as “PUSUAN MO” (a facebook “love” popularity campaign) is now making a buzz in the entire community who were seen rooting for their top picks this early. Here’s the link of the facebook page for the complete list of contestants.
A SHOWCASE OF FILIPINO FESTIVALS. Interestingly, what makes this pageant very unique is their showcase of different festivals in the Philippines. Known for the colorful street dances and delectable delicacies of each region in the Philippines, this year’s PIDC promises to offer the same “fiesta-feeling”. This is a really good experience especially for children who were growing up here in Qatar and has not experienced it back home.
And while watching the candidates during their guestings on AFJQ TeleRadyo show, I came to know the different festivals that they will be representing – from Piat Sambali Festival of Cagayan, Panagbenga Festival of Baguio City, Kalivungan Festival of Maranaw, Tuna Festival of General Santos City, and a lot more.
A SHOWCASE FOR DOHA-BASED FILIPINO FASHION DESIGNERS. Consistent on their contributions during the past Filipino events in Qatar, the Filipino Fashion Designers of Qatar will once again wow the world with their creative designs. A Doha-based fashion designer is assigned to make a special wardrobe for each candidate in the competition. So expect a colorful display of Filipino masterpieces, intricate designs which will reflect our rich culture and traditions, and world class Filipino talents that we can really be proud of.
We will be keep further details in suspense until the actual pageant. The Talent Presentation will be held on June 27 (4:30PM) while the Coronation Night will be on June 28 (1:00PM). Some of the most anticipated guests for the occasion are homegrown beauty titlist – Ms. Janela Joy Pigon Cuaton (Miss Tourism International 2015 – 1st Runner Up), and Ms. Justin Mae San Jose (Mutya ng Pilipinas – -Tourism International 2016).
We hope that you will join us as we cheer not only for the candidates we will be supporting but also for our country’s pride.
