As an offshoot of the Basic Blogging Seminar that I conducted during the Philippine Independence Day Celebration at the City Center Rotana Hotel last June 2017, I thought of taking that opportunity to help new and aspiring bloggers get some ideas on how to start the ball rolling and how to further improve the way they do things.
JULY 21 | HOW TO START A BLOG
Initially, the intention was to make it a regular learning session that people can look forward to. We were only looking at small number of participants that can be accommodated either through table discussion or casual meeting set-up.
I am extremely grateful when we presented the idea to the management of Figaro Coffee and they offered their meeting room for free. Feels good to have the support of the brands and your friends for your projects and advocacies.
AUGUST 25 | FOOD BLOGGING
During a casual meet-up with fellow Filipino bloggers, I threw out the idea and an invitation to those who would be willing to share their expertise and become volunteer speakers. Fortunately, the reception was very positive that we’ve already lined up several sessions right at that moment.
First on the schedule is FOOD BLOGGING courtesy of Mr. Gerald Sarmiento (blogger/www.geraldsarmiento.com) complemented with a basic photography session by Mr. Andy Gozon (founder/QameraKlub).
SEPTEMBER 22 | TRAVEL BLOGGING
After the well-attended food blogging session, the equally interesting topic about travel came next. We tapped the help of Ms. Darlene Mae Madrid (blogger/www.pointandshootwanderlust.com) and Ms. Mau Cruz (travel enthusiast and magazine photographer/Mauvelous Captures) and just like the first, it was yet another informative training.
OCTOBER 20 | BEAUTY V/BLOGGING
Finally, we scheduled our last session for the year in order to give way to more upcoming events and vacation schedules during the holidays. The Beauty V/Blogging session was a mix of theoretical and practical demonstration applicable to any media forms – written (blog) or video (v-log). The youngest beauty guru in the community has graciously accommodated our invitation, bravely taking it solo during the session. Ms. Dani Caduco (Dani’s Youtube Channel) did a quick theoretical discussion and an actual makeup demonstration afterwards.
A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT: Best Life Qatar + Pinoy Blog Squad + Figaro Coffee
It wasn’t a job of one man alone. It was even made possible and more meaningful when it became a group effort – when more creative minds joined together for a common goal. Driven by the purpose of being a “blessing to others”, each blogger (whether volunteer speaker or support) are major contributors to this program’s success.
Moreover, the support of our venue sponsor (FIGARO COFFEE) is so great that we are planning for bigger and better events in the future.
And lastly, the trust of our participants who have joined us in one or more sessions only goes to show that there are indeed people needs help through training and that every session is an opportunity to help and inspire other people.
