Our Weekend Staycation at Radisson Blu Hotel Doha:

I’ve been staying in Doha for quite sometime now but it was our very first time to spend a weekend staycation at Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha. Often viewed by many as a business hotel since Ramada times, and because of close proximity to many residential places in downtown Doha, many would tend to overlook this spot and head straight to corniche area for their weekend getaway.

While this isn’t our first time to step into the hotel – we had several visits to the Italian Job, Hyde Park, Ruby Wu’s and Bombay Balti, plus few events on some of their function halls for birthdays and private community events. Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha isn’t really new to us.

But having stayed at Radisson Blu Hotel Doha over the weekend completely changed our perspective. While its location may be very familiar and so close to our home, it has so many things that left us in awe. And I can say probably that it is one of the biggest hotels in Qatar with the biggest ensemble of fine dining restaurants and bars that you could ever see anywhere in the city.

Guess what? They have a total of 9 restaurants and 5 bars in operation as of press time! They even have one of the biggest open parking spaces sitting on a prime property located in a bustling commercial district of Doha.

And talk about being a one-stop-shop? Radisson Blu Hotel Doha have everything that you need for business and pleasure, for rest and recreation, while maintaining it as a family-oriented oasis in the heart of the city.

SLEEP

Their standard rooms are approximately 28 sqm in size, spacious enough for 2 Adults, 1 Child. It offers either 1 King bed or 2 single beds furnished with an easy chair, coffee table, a chargeable mini bar, and a writing desk and chair with DDI telephone, modem and WIFI connections.

They also have complimentary tea and coffee provisions for a freshly brewed beverage inside the room. Their bathroom is equipped with basic toiletries. They have a shower area, which I pressume would also be good for PWDs (Persons with disabilities), and a bathtub with a clear glass window covered with Venetian blinds.

SAVOR

With 14 restaurants and bars under its roof that feature menus from all over the world, guests will find a wealth of dining options without leaving the hotel. I had a chance to visit each and every one of them and saw that they are also open even to non-hotel guests. As early as 5 pm, patrons are already starting to pack their bars and line up for dinner in the different restaurants.

Dinner at Italian Job Restaurant
Breakfast at Hyde Park Coffee Shop
Lunch at Inginuity

Will be featuring a separate blog for this but I would say our dinner, breakfast, and lunch brought us to a different level of culinary and dining experience.

SOAK

An oasis. That’s how we experienced Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha from the time we woke up in the morning. Heard the birds chirping, walked around the lush greenery, and was enchanted with some wild beautiful flowers and with the sound of the waterfalls… you will definitely forget that you’re right in the middle of the busy Ramada signal.

It has a resort-type ambiance upon entering their mini-Japanese garden that will lead you to the hotel’s amenity area. The main pool is huge and they have a separate pool for kids and a mini-jacuzzi. It was mentioned that the pool was temperature-controlled but probably due to the season, the water was still a bit cold but was becoming more tolerable when you stayed on it after a few minutes. But that did not affect the over-all experience… we had a lot of fun knowing that it is Jasmine’s happy place (the pool). We also noticed that there are more people at the pool during the afternoon than in the morning.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha is a gem on its own. See its color transform all throughout the day: from the clear blue skies reflecting in the morning, the golden rays of the sun throughout the afternoon, and the vibrant black neon lights in the evening. I even told my wife, it resembles that of NOBU HOTEL-CITY OF DREAMS in the Philippines especially when paired with the nearby Al Ghanim Building just across the street. Probably, this is one of the hottest places to be for a cozy to upbeat nightlife. Yet it still maintains a family atmosphere that is safe, secure and very relaxing.
