Following the Supreme Committee for Crisis management decision, malls in Qatar was temporarily closed as a precautionary measure until further notice. The decision to close retail outlets includes shops inside large malls and shopping centers (Gulf Times – March 23, 2020).
Due to the ongoing pandemic, people are encouraged to remain in their homes and only go out when necessary (going to work, purchase of food and medical supplies, and other emergencies). Group assemblies and meetings are also banned as a continuing effort to stop the spread of the virus. Even mosques and prayer areas are closed, encouraging the faithfuls to do their religious obligations at home.
So, I really admire how businesses can still be so resilient in times like these. I even learn more – on a practical level, on how they respond to these challenges: use of technology, out-of-the-box marketing strategies, a style of customer service that literally goes the extra mile (for home deliveries).
In Qatar, I came across some Instagram post which I thought should be made aware to as much people as possible. Our support will be very helpful to share to everyone that there exist services such as this – a VIRTUAL MALL. Personally, I was on a lookout for a leather shoes (since I was asked to report back to office) and I was curious where to get one during this time. Though i still couldn’t find one as of this writing… I saw more items that maybe of interest to many of you.
So brace yourself as the next time someone knocks your door, it wouldn’t be from your favorite food delivery services but from a shopping mall. Exciting days ahead!

A PIECE OF ADVISE
Time will come that the government will soon reopen business establishments one after another. They will try to slowly bring back the economy into its feet after a long time of closure and massive losses in the hope to go back to its normal operations.

We’ve heard news from China, New Zealand and other countries slowly returning to (new) normal. However, it is really advisable for everyone not to let our guards down. Let’s still observe safety precaution, and strictly follow government regulations.

It is not the right time to throw a party yet. Until vaccine is discovered, we could just simply stay alert, stay informed, and stay protected knowing that this virus is still around us and it can hit us really bad when we stop being cautious.
