FEED YOUR S[e]OUL EP07: KPOP MUSIC AWARDS 2022 | MAMA AWARDS and MMA AWARDS

While it is also awards season in BEST LIFE QATAR with its Best Life Qatar Readers Choice 2023 which will be streaming LIVE on 21st January 2023, we thought of also featuring some popular KPOP MUSIC AWARDS that have recently concluded.

Last November was probably the last of the series of Music Awards in South Korea for 2022, and two of the most notable awards shows that K-netizens love to watch would be MMA or the Melon Music Award 2022 and MAMA or the 2022 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

My topic for this week is about KPOP (Korean Pop), but I couldn’t think of any appropriate subject that could be more relevant for now. Earlier this week I published about BTS’ scheduled cinema release of their YET TO COME (BUSAN) Concert – which is supposed to be my original entry of this week.

But interestingly, while looking for a peg for my upcoming event, I got inspired by how MMA, presented their nominees and the whole program itself. I love how the Korean entertainment industry is leveling up its live shows and it is amazing to see the mix of technology and creativity, in recognizing KPOP artists. Not to mention, it is inspiring to see artists being recognized knowing their hard work as well as the fans too.

MELON MUSIC AWARDS 2022

KPOP MUSIC AWARDS 2022

Every Korean artist wants to have as many Daesangs as they can receive. Daesang is the Korean word for Grand Prize. Dae means big or grand, and Sang means award or prize.

Daesangs are the most coveted awards at year-end award shows. Other awards do matter; however, Daesangs showcase if the artist’s effort has been acknowledged or not.

The main Daesangs for almost every show are Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year. Some award shows also have Record of the Year and Worldwide Icon of the Year as their grand prizes.

After winning the Worldwide Icon of the Year award at the recently concluded MAMA Awards 2022, BTS became the only band to have received this award more than once and are the only recipients of it. They now have the most Daesang wins in history with a total of 68. source: https://www.latestly.com/
